Garioch Sports Centre Health Commitment Statement

Your health is your responsibility. The team at GSC are dedicated to helping you take every opportunity to enjoy the facilities that we offer. With this in mind, we have carefully considered what we can reasonably expect of each other.

Our Commitment to you….

  • We will respect your personal decisions and allow you to make your own decisions about what exercise you can carry out. However, we ask you not to exercise beyond what you consider to be your own abilities.
  • We will make every reasonable effort to make sure that our equipment and facilities are in a safe condition for you to use and enjoy.
  • We will take all reasonable steps to make sure our staff are qualified to fitness industry standards as set out by the register of exercise professionals.
  • If you tell us that you have a disability which puts you at a substantial disadvantage in accessing our equipment and facilities, we will consider what adjustments, if any, are reasonable for us to make.

Your Commitment to us…

  • If you know or are concerned that you have a medical condition which might interfere with your ability to exercise safely, before you use any equipment or facilities you should get advice.
  • You should make yourself aware of any rules or instructions including warning notices. Exercise carries its own risks. You should not carry out any activities which you have been told are not suitable for you.
  • You should let us know immediately if you feel unwell when using our equipment or facilities. Our staff members are not qualified doctors, but there will be a person available who has had first aid training.
  • If you have a disability you must follow any reasonable instructions to allow you to exercise safely
  • You should not exercise beyond you own abilities.
  • You agree that you are a competent & experienced user of gym facilities and any associated equipment. If not, you understand an induction with one of our trainers will need to take place before the facilities can be enjoyed.

  1. You have the option to become a voting member of Garioch Sports Centre . Membership is open to those aged 16 and over who reside in the Garioch area. People who do not reside in the Garioch area cannot be members. If you wish to become a member all you need to do is consent to this and your application will be considered at the next board meeting. No fee is payable in respect of membership (this is separate to the fees payable for using the facility) You have the right to attend and vote at the AGMs where the Trustees will be elected and any major decisions taken. Members also have a general obligation under the Charities and Trustees Act (Scotland) 2005 to act in good faith and in the best interests of the charity. Your membership is subject to the terms of the Constitution of Garioch Sports Centre Holdings which is available to view on our website.
